Henry Huddleston's
house
at 154 West
Marshall Ave., Langhorne, PA
Built in 1690, this seems to have been the oldest Huddleston
house still in existence. It seems that Henry built another house about 1706,
right before he died, and there may have been as many as 7 houses the
Huddleston family built and lived in. Here are some
current pictures of the oldest Huddleston house:
The part with white siding was a 2-story addition added later.
The addition is built over a spring where the Huddlestons and other
locals got their water.
Dining room on right with a drawing of the house over the mantle.
The bedroom
pictured here is in the original part of the house. The doors
were originally to a second stairway to the 3rd floor, but now is used
as a closet.
Living room is on the right.
According to the historic home inspector, part of the basement of this
house was originally the whole home! From there additions were
added on. The home went through a period of being a dairy farm,
the remnants of which are still found around the property. There
are two "ponds" which were originally where the milk cans were placed
in water to keep them cool until delivery. You can see one to the
left of
the picture below. The wishing well is decorative only, not
original to the home.
